How many yards do you need for your kente dress style?

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW....

The dress style has much influence in deciding the number of kente - yards you will need for your dress. This will help to avoid shortage and any stress associated to that. 

A. 10 or More Yards 

Recommend 10 or More Yards if you desire to sew similar dress style like the picture just below...

B. 8 Yards or More

If you intend sewing similar dress style just below, you're required to order for 8 yards kente due to  how the flare is.

Moreover,  if you have a very thick body type, it's advisable to order for 8 yards  straight or more irrespective of the dress style you intend to sew. You can consult a designer for more enquiries.

In that case, you can order

• 2 pieces of design and 2 pieces of plain.
• 3 pieces of design and 1 piece of plain.
• 1 piece of design and  3 plain
• All design

Note that, each pieces is 2 yards and prices may vary depending on the specifications you need.

For Eg. Fabric must come in 4 pieces as seen below since each is 2 yards. In all it'll be 8 yards. The choice is in your hands now. Either you choose 3 designs,  1 plain) or ( 2 designs,  2 plains ) or ( 1 designs,  3 plains ) or all design depending on your preferences.preferences.

C. 6 YARDS

With similar dress style below, 6 yards of kente fabric will be okay except that you have a very thick body.

Remember that, each piece of kente as seen folded in pictures come in 2 yards. 3 pieces give 6 yards.

This is an example of 6 yards kente. 3 pieces.

D. 2- 4 YARDS 

The styles below will require 2 to 4 yards kente fabric depending on your dress style or body size. Mostly for simple office dress, graduations, dress for seminar, photo shoot and the like.

E. MEN CLOTH

For Men cloth, it comes in 10 - 11 yards with different dimensions as compared to women cloth. As well as women cloth for wrapping.  Mostly with the women cloth,  6 yards of  all designed  women kente can be joined together or specially woven.
